Bobette Bryan's Poetry
His
From the beginning,
he seemed to have a claim
on everything I owned,
right down to my name.
I became,
HIS
common ground.
I'll never understand why,
but he seemed to think that
I didn't mind
and had no choice
but to accept
his intrusion
into my life.
He claimed my right
to build,
to plan,
to dream,
to love.
Irrevocably.
Forever.
Even now,
to this day,
I have a hard time,
accepting things
that are
my place,
my person.
Mine.
